Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret with gas
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I have a 7 year old male ferret who is showing signs of adrenal disease. My
vet and I have discussed surgery, but the vet seems to feel that waiting a
bit is fine because it appears to be at an early stage and the ferret has
had surgery recently to remove an enlarged spleen. Rocky, the ferret, has
always had some gas- you can hear it when he goes to the bathroom and it is
visible in X-rays that have been done, but lately he also seems bloated.
Does anyone know what might cause this? He is eating well, drinking a fair
bit, and going to the bathroom regularly. He is still very energetic. My
vet doesn't seem to think the gas is a problem, but I would like to
understand what is going on and see if there are any changes that might help
Rocky.
