Subject: [ferrethealth] what is the dosage of albon?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

i can only find one archive posting with the words dosage and albon in it. is 1ml, once
a day, then .5ml, then ? the right dosage? my vet, a wonderful surgeon, but not a
ferret geek, didn't know either.

thanks!

[Moderator's Note because the list is slow tonight: Albon is Sulfadimethoxine and is
used for coccidia.

_Essentials of Ferrets, a Guide for Practioners_ gives the dosing as
50 mg/kg PO once; then 25 mg/kg q 24 for 9 days PO

_Ferrets, Rabbits, and Rodents, Clinical Medicine and Surgery) gives the same dosing.

Remember, it is the animal's weight and the mg amount (NOT the ml or cc, or any
other volume level) that matters when figuring dosing.]
