Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Little Bear
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Blood work does not require sedation for most, and when it does a tiny and quick hit with Iso gas does the trick. The way our vet does it is that the exterior vena cava is used with one person providing a treat like Ferretone and scruffing, one holding the hind quarters, and the ferret suspended over the corner of the table. The vet shaves, feels the vein, puts on a lidocaine gel if it looks like several tries will be needed, and then sticks. When they need Iso they just need a tiny bit for a tiny while.

PLEASE, Do NOT put this ferret down when you don't even know what is wrong and what can be done for the problem. If you can't afford basic care then the Support Our Shelters and AFA shelter site can help you find a home where she can get care.

There are many possible reasons for the symptoms you mention and a number are very treatable.
