Bird Flu and pets (Does not mention ferrets, but they are known to able to get it with strong enough exposure, the same as cats.)

In areas with avian influenza it pays to keep susceptible pets indoors.

One thing I did notice is that the author says that the first actual observed active case in a dog may be happening now, but in Indonesia multiple reports have already existed of antibodies to this strain already found in feral and farm dogs so there could have been unobserved cases.
