Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] non-chicken foods?
To: <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

I have a ferret whom my vet (after multiple changes of litter, food,
detergents, etc.) believes he has an allergy to chicken. He has NO internal
problems; however, his left rear and right front feet become swollen, red
and hot and he occasionally (which may or may not be related to the feet)
has 4-5 skin sores on his body which appear overnight and, with a soak in
Betadine and warm water, also disappear overnight. I have been giving him
.8 ml. Pediatric Benedryl and .5 ml. of Prednisolone which appear to keep it
at bay. I have bought ground raw rabbit and frozen mice, which he would not
eat. No ferret or kitten food that I have found are without any type of
chicken - so it's a quandry. Even tried wet kitten turkey food and he would
not have any part of that but will eat Gerbers turkey gravy, but that is not
a complete diet. Anyone else have a problem with chicken that they have
solved???????
