Michael,
We had a similar problem on Easter Sunday. CB (guesstimated age of 5 - 6 YO)
pooed black bloody diarrhea all day and night. The closest emergency vet was 40
miles away and I haven't heard great things about them so I just prayed, cried and
kept him him hydrated and eating.
Monday morning we were at the vet with his three sisters in case a transfusion was
needed. Monday night looked bleak and I went to bed believing CB would be going
to the Bridge shortly. Tuesday morning was better, no transfusions needed and he
was home with me Thursday night.
After and upper and lower barium series, x-rays, and more blood tests then I can
imagine there was no diagnosis. The only way the vet could explain it was that CB's
digestive tract was "shedding", he was pooping tissue and stomach lining. There
was no cause: it just stopped.
CB is on .75cc Pediapred twice a day and gets a monthly lupon implant also.
I also would like to hear from others on this. I tried to post at the time it happed but
it bounced back.
Connie

[Moderator's Note: That post would have been during a time when Smartgroups was
having the spam attacks that appear to have caused damage according to some on a
moderators' site; that would account for the bounce. Even their own trouble
reporting address was bouncing reports for a while about then.]
