Hi Dave, darkness should really be as dark as you can make it; I use
wooden sleeping boxes with the openings away from any light source. I
think the dark time should try and follow their natural light controlled
breeding cycle, minimum 6 hours in the summer and over 12 in the winter.
I have been watching a hob I have separated from the others and housed
out in the conservatory, during the night he sleeps inside a hammock bed
but during the day uses a wooden sleeping box. Perhaps he knows
something we don't. Chris
