Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: bird flu
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

In Germany there was a case of bird flu in a "steen marter" stone marten is the literal translation. It is also said here in Holland that ferrets are susceptible to bird flu. However, as the bird migration season is almost over, risk of infection is slim. I would keep my ferrets away from any bird carcasses and areas such as ponds where fowl like to hang out. ;)
regards.
