Subject: [ferrethealth] should I up the lupron or just be happy?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Cookie got her first lupron shot a couple of weeks ago. 1-month 200 mcg., IM. Since then, the fluid retention in her belly has gone down to just a slight pot belly. This is a real improvement. She seems slightly more active, but she was very active before, so that's hard to tell. Skin has certainly improved--no more sores or scratching. The super-hot outer body thing that was going on is still there, but it does seem improved--rarely as hot and less frequent. She's seeking out the company of the other ferrets much more, for sleeping. No noticeable hair regrowth, either from lupron or the melatonin a couple of months ago. It's a nice improvement overall. If that's all there is, it's still good. Is there much else I can expect from a higher dosage, any reason to got a larger dose?
She's got lymphoma, which has spread to her adrenals and maybe (probably, right?) elsewhere as well. Diagnosed in December when her eyes were removed because of rupture and the tumors were found back there. The adrenal came on quite quickly, leaving her practically bald within a couple of months. Also on pred (6.7/5), which I recently upped to .75 2x day. Turds are frequently a bit runny, sometimes good, slightly yellowish. That's mostly been since the lupron.

Thanks,
Clover
