Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: surgery or no surgery, insulinoma and adrenal
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Thanks for the answer Suki. I was afraid the answer would not be as simple as I had
hoped.

Sneeki (female, 4.5 yrs old) had her surgery for insulinoma this morning, and the
Vet called me and told me that one insulinoma was in a good part of the pancreas,
and easily removed, and another insulinoma was in the area of the pancreas that is
near or surrounds the duodanal loop and he removed 3/4 of the pancreas in that
section. His concern now is that he needs to see improvement with the blood
supply that was compromised by the surgery. I am to check in later today, and in
the AM to see when she can come home. We had her on prednisone the past week
& 1/2, as we only started seeing any evidence of this illness in the past 3 weeks.
The pred really helped her bounce back, and she gained a bit of weight and was
very playful and "back to her old self" the past week. the Vet even commented on
how frisky she was this AM prior to the surgery. She has a HUGE personality and is
a free roamer, and only pet, so my husbqand & I really know her rythms and
preferences well.

Any one else been through this Who can offer any words on what I am to expect for
her recovery? This is my first ferret.

Thanks,
Lori
