Subject: [ferrethealth] Feeding Cream (Was Re: Treating AIHA)
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

The question was asked "what about whipping cream? my dr suggested it but how
much is okay for her to have?"

I would bet that the poster got a response personally, but I was surprised not to
see a public reply to the question.

Whipping cream has sugar added to it, which we all know is not good for our little
ones. What I have had recommended (years ago) was heavy cream, which is simply
the cream off the milk with very little of the "milk" in it. If you've never seen milk
straight from the cow, it is so incredibly different from what you get in the store, it
almost doesn't seem like the same substance.

When this was recommended, it was to get calories and fat into a ferret who didn't
want to each much. She loved it, and in the end recovered from that crisis.

Anyone know if this is still recommended for that purpose? I'd like to know just in
case I might need it again.

Debbie H
