Subject: [ferrethealth] ECE Virus

I rescue ferrets Igot greedy bought a kit with ECE all 5 of the others got infected
each one has some different signs one even got the new kind with ulcers in throat/
mouth causing the gagging/vomiting twice its a very aggressive virus this is the
worst case brought one home and got 5 ill to all alwys watch stool !!!!I knew as soon
as the kit went poop its the greenies to all treat very aggressively or you won't
have that little fuzzy its hard work I have delt with many things from rescue ferrets
16 years +I have to say kidney falure is been one of biggest problems in ferrets I
only feed innova/or chicken soup for the soul cat food ferret foods have only been
around about 13 years they have cancer causing agents read the ingredients

A very common cause of mouth and throat ulceration is kidney damage which can
happen secondary to extreme dehydration from ECE so such individuals will need at
least sub-cu fluids along with oral ones, and may need IV.
