Subject: [ferrethealth] wasting ferret feeding frenzy what am I missing?

First the weird part, last night after total exasperation I decided to force feed Baby (history below). So, I measured out 35 cc and put into a squeeze kinda bottle. She ate it SO fast! I kinda held it up so her neck was stretched out. She grabbed the plastic end in her teeth and gobbled up the whole thing very quickly. Now, I consider that she ate so ravenous a good thing. But why? She acts, literally, like she is staving to death. What should I be looking for if anything. I have looked inside of her mouth and found nothing. As a side note, I did a BG on her and it was 81 with a human glucometer.
History:3 year old silver MF female. Her typical weight is 900 grams. She has been dropping weight. 7 days ago she weighed 760 today she is 730 grams. About once every 9 months she is put on pred for a nervous stomach/weight loss. This was after no response to biaxin,amoxi, pepcid regime. She went back on pred two weeks ago but continues to lose weight. She is on free choice kibble ( 90% natural gold, 5% 8 in 1 ultimate, 5% mazuri). Twice a day I give her duck soup. ( gerbers, a/d, cooked egg, uncle jims, pumpkin). Pred dosage is .2 mg of the 15mg/5ml. twice a day. She has always been a finicky you gotta hold me, spoon feed me, scruff me to get me to eat the duck soup ferret. I feel pretty lucky to get a tablespoon down her in 10 minutes. I have tried giving her carafate 10 minutes out but it doesn't change anything.
Why would the change in feeding position or style create such a drastic change in attitude? Is there a health problem that I am overlooking? I have looked inside of her mouth and found nothing unusual. She licks up ferretone so I know her tongue is working.
