Subject: Fwd: [ferrethealth] Question on human allergies to ferrets...
To: Ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Sorry this comes so late but I definitely suffered severe allergies
when my Chewy was alive. I'd get the works, hives, itchy/watery
eyes, stuffed nose, and basically spent eight years of my life
sneezing on a daily basis. I'd also get Asthma which hit me hardest
when I bathed him (or should I say mainly when drying him after a
bath). I guess whatever dander was trapped in his fur would break
free and cause trouble.

To keep from getting Asthma when drying him after a bath, I'd put on
a handkerchief around my nose/mouth (wild wild west bandit-like) and
then I'd add a dust mask over that. It worked perfectly. Though
it's not my recommendation to you, I personally stopped taking
allergy meds after awhile and just coped with the allergies because I
never really found anything that worked (not for long any
ways). Though I suffered terribly for those eight years, I loved
every moment that I had with my little furry boy and I'd do it over
again (with him) in a heart-beat.

Note to All: Give your fuzzies a big loving, snuggly kiss tonight
(the way I wish I could kiss mine :-( ).

Mary
