Subject: [ferrethealth] Follow up

Thought I should post letting everyone who responded to my last message kno=
w what's going on. So I managed to find a clinic that was open on Sunday an=
d could make an appointment. (Also, they have a really good reputation with=
regard to ferrets and my experience there seems to totally confirm that. I=
'm going to have to take my other girl in for a checkup because they really=
know what they're doing.) Thanks everyone who responded -- she does have i=
nsulinoma and it doesn't look good. The vet gave an estimate of 2-3 months =
if my Susie responds well to treatment but I think she was probably being g=
enerous. :( She had gotten pretty dehydrated over the last couple of days a=
nd her blood sugar is really dangerously low (the doctor said she should be=
having seizures at that level) so I left her there overnight to see if the=
y could do anything to help her feel a little bit better and get back to he=
r normal self for the time being. The doctor said they might be able to hel=
p her get her energy back but that she doesn't know how long that would eve=
n last -- but, I figure if there's nothing else I can do I want her to at l=
east be happy and comfortable as can be managed for whatever time she has l=
eft. I feel that's the least I can do for my baby. I don't even know if the=
y'll be able to do anything, though. I don't know if she'll make it over th=
e next couple of days. If she doesn't seem to respond to any treatments wit=
hin 48 hours they'll just send her back home to me and I guess there won't =
be anything i can do.
I'm mostly really upset because before a little while ago she didn't have a=
ny symptoms at all--it must have been building for a while but she seemed f=
ine in this regard until yesterday, so this is completely out of nowhere.
Anyway, again, thanks a lot to those of you who responded. I appreciate it.=
