Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: Coronavirus - Need advice
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

When a person talks about coronaviruses and ferrets the virus commonly seen=
is FECV, the causative agent of ECE.

There is a lot on ECE in the FHL Archives, but the best place to start lear=
ning is this:

http://www.afip.org/ferrets/ECE/ECE.html

I have not read of ECE being documented in South America, but it is entirel=
y possible that it is there given the many years since this virus first bec=
ame noticed.

For caution's sake it is best that you assume that all have it, and also th=
at they will be contagious for at least 8 months after they appear better, =
since ECE sheds virus like that, so if it is ECE you will have taken care t=
o prevent its spread.
