Are you looking for causes of ascites and of possible intestinal perforation?
Some causes of ascites are
1. heart disease
(usually cardiomyopathy which can be slowed with meds -- dilated cardiomyopathy can found w x-ray often but needs ultrasound to design the best treatment program, whereas hypertrophic often needs ultrasound to even be found, also look for other possible heard causes like node block)
2. kidney disease (Do a CBC with Chemistry Panel, a urine specific gravity, etc.)
3. lymphoma
etc.
There are approaches to help ferrets with these problems, some for quantity of time, some for quality of time, some for both.
