Subject: [ferrethealth] respiratory allergy?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
I've seen several discussions about food and contact allergies, and I'm wondering whether ferrets also get respiratory allergies. Last summer a couple of mine had dry coughs that were treated as infections with various antibiotics and such off and on all season. These didn't really help but symptoms stopped, I'm realizing now, with the change of seasons. The other night Buster started up with the coughing again. (The other one who had this has since died of something unrelated.) So, the antibiotics didn't seem to work but the change of season seems to have something to do with it. It is much worse at night but does come on at other times. Can it be an allergy to something in the air and what should I do about it? If I do nothing (or can do nothing) is there a risk of it turning into something else?
