One of my ferrets once suffered a small puncture wound on her
paw pad, and even though there wasn't much blood, my vet put
her on amoxycillan (aka amoxy drops) for ten days. If you
think about it, ferrets are stepping in litter on a regular
basis, so it can't hurt to take the extra precaution. Many
ferrets like the fruity flavors of amoxycillan, so it can be
very easy to administer. My vet at that time also gave me a
product which I think was called hibitine (I could be
completely wrong, and I could also be butchering a French
name) to clean the ferret's paw with a couple of times a day.
i wouldn't hesitate to follow a similar procedure again if I
had a ferret with a foot wound.

not a vet,

Regina
