I have always been told to give lots of food before administering pred. At least 12cc's.
You may want to offer chicken baby food before hand, most ferrets love it, then give
the pred. When my ferrets were on pred before, I would offer baby food before hand,
and mix the pred with baby food, just to soften the blow to the stomach. It is
definately more important to eat before than after. You may want to consider starting
on carafate and amoxicillin to patch up that possible ulcer. Carafate should be given at
least 10 minutes before other meds, so it doens't interefere with absorption. Beware
though, ferrets can hate it. Mine always did. Good luck, and I hope Komay feels better
soon!
