Subject: [ferrethealth] Peanut Update 06-29-06

I'm livid!
We just got back from taking Peanut to another vet and they wanted between
$450.00 and $750.00 to evaluate her condition, administer IV fluids, do a barium
xray and try to feed her, it doesn't even include surgery should she have a
blockage. Because we didn't have the $150.00 just for them to start evaluating
her, he refused to treat her, we had $125.00 of the $150.00 and they wouldn't
wait 2 lousy days for the additional $25.00.
We talked to a woman who is seeking a loan on her home to pay his fees for
her dog that has been there for 2 weeks.
We won't have the money until at least Saturday when our disability checks
come in, so basically they sent her home to die.
We have devoted 5 years to these kids, and since we live in a state where
ferrets are illegal, we can't ask for donations for medical care, or to buy
necessities for the kids.
We have put ourselves in the poor house. I feel so helpless right now, but I
wanted to thank everyone who has offered advice, suggestions and
recommendations. I guess that we are going to lose her because money is more important than
providing adequate medical care.
I'm torn right now about if I want to continue to seek treatment with Vet #1
who wants to wait or try to go back to Vet #2 who wants $450-$750 without
surgery.
I just don't want this beautiful 13 month old DEW girl to die because of the
situation.

Please continue to pray for her and us.

Mary
