Subject: [ferrethealth] want ideas for finding and removing glass slivers from ferret's foot
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Yesterday Steve accidently knocked a frozen glass container of cilantro onto the floor. Since I happened in later I had only one piece of glass and that is out. I have gotten two out of Steve's foot and three little slivers out of Hilbert's foot. One I found by reflecting light from a bright flashlight on his pad, the second showed up just by a quirk while moving around his fur, and the third developed a pusshead so I was able to get them out together. At the moment he is still favoring that foot, but we don't know how much of that is Hilbert being smart or how much may be a 4th sliver. He is NOT someone who would agree to the long heater soaks that worked for Steve, and there is not any more sign of welling, puss -- not even minor redness, and nothing is reflecting.

He's a smart one so we are not using food bribes because he'd limp for a week just to get those.

Using a toy mousie on a string gets him to play but he does favor the foot some even then so I DO think there is fourth little sliver somewhere in his right foot.

Ideas?
