Subject: [ferrethealth] Lymphoma/Melatonin question
To: <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

My 6 year old ferret was diagnosed with Lymphoma the first part of April.

He had 3 swollen lymph nodes removed/bioped.

He was put on 1.25 cc of pediapred 2X a day.
He has been doing well, although I see some slowing down this last month.

This ferret has been on Melatonin implants for almost 2 years, and is due
for another this month.
I googled lymphoma melatonin, and found some info that indicates melatonin
might interfere with some cancer drugs, chemo, etc.
Human, not ferrets info.

I can find nothing that indicates Melatonin might help my ferrets lympho.

He was originally given the implants after a 2nd adrenal surgery, with some
of the right remaining.

I question putting him through the stress of the implant now, unless there
is good reason to continue.
There is no sign of the adrenal returning, although the hair has not grown
back at the surgery sites.

I will be discussing with our vet next week, in the meantime has anyone had
experience with lympho, treatment with pred only (no chemo) and Melatonin.

Thanks
Ardith and The Little Kidd
