Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: need help-vomiting white goo
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

Hi,

I had a similar problem, and we exhausted everything, too. The antibiotics did
nothing to help (though he had some helicobactor like yours does), and like you,
nothing showed in the barium xray (my understanding is that Mega-e would show
for sure in an esophageal xray). Finally, after surgery and biopsy of all the
stomachy bits, we found out he had irritable bowel. I guess vomitting with IBD is
not common, but my guy was definitely doing tons of it. He had few to no funky
poos at that point too. (Weeks earlier he has some bad diahrrea but that was post-
adrenal surgery and was chalked up to the stress of that at the time).

He was put on .25 prednisone once a day and he improved but didn't completely
stop. We upped him to twice a day and he only throws up now if extremely stressed
such as if I go out of town for a day or two and have a sitter come in. But within a
day or two of my return, he's fine again. Worth a shot. And a lot better prognosis
than mega-e. Feel free to contact me off list.

Joan

[Moderator's Note: please remember that meds come in different liquid
concentrations and in different pill sizes so only mg (or ml AND mg/ml so that mg
can be calculated) mean anything in terms of dose.]
