I'm glad your little guy is responding well to the meds you're using. I hope he continues to do well.
Just curious - did your little guy have the gurgling and air squirting sounds with his vomiting symptoms? These audible signs are very consistent with a diagnosis of Mega-E. You are likely dealing with something very different than the ferret that is producing the white goo.
For the owner with the ferret producing the white goo, no test is 100% accurate. I wouldn't rule out MegaE simply because of a 'normal' test. If I had the little guy making the noises, I would pursuing handling him as though he did have MegaE (specialized feeding) to see if it helps and I know my vet would support that, as that was his recommendation with both of my cases. My vet did add the meds because he did feel it was MegaE. We didn't test either male, but necropsy confirmed both cases. MegaE is a progressive disease. I would begin trying to work with it as soon as possible.
Also, it is important to determine if what you are seeing is regurgitation -which indicates the material did not enter the stomach- or vomiting, which would include bile, indicating the bile stained material was expelled from the stomach. MegaE involves regurgitation, and if the material being expelled is white, it likely has not originated from the stomach, and is material being regurtitated is consistent with MegaE.
If the presence of foreign bodies, inflammation and tumors have been eliminated, it is likely MegaE.
