Subject: [ferrethealth] Buddy is gone
To: <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

I have talked about Buddy before on the list. He had insulinoma and adrenal.
He was our first ferret and a little over 6 years old. He was being treated
with lupron, melatonin and prednisone. He had his last lupron and melatonin
in Feb. Ever since then he was not the same. After we brought him home
from the vets that day he had an insulinoma episode. He seemed slower and
had to be woken often to eat. His vet upped his prednisone.

Anyway, over the weekend he did not want to eat...then he started having
problems walking with his hind legs. Sunday night it looked like his head
was swelling a little and his feet were swollen...we think he may have had a
stroke cuz his left eye would not close. We took him to the closest vet and
they put him to sleep. It all just happened so fast. I know that now he is
not suffering from the diseases he had. The vet said he went fast and didn't
suffer. This was not our regular vet as she was too far away to get to. He
was buried in the back yard with his friend TWEEK.

I like what Tonytclarke just posted to the list: "my home is ferret proof
but my heart is not." These lil guys are so special to us, that our heart
breaks when they are sick or pass.

Does anyone know if there could have been any other causes for his eye to
act like that? There was some dark discharge coming from his eye and nose.
