Subject: [ferrethealth] itchy ferret
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I have a four year old male ferret whom I noticed has been itching intensely not only around the ears, but other areas of his body. He was treated for fleas just a week ago with Advantage and there are no signs of any fleas left from what I can see. He has the dark brownish-red gunk in his ears, but no redness on his skin except for a few little red spots, that look like bites, most likely from the fleas i treated him for.

He is eating, drinking normally and his poopies look fine. He is sleeping more than usual though. Any suggestions of what this might be would be much appreciated and what can i do for him temporarily until i can get into the vet?
