I am not a vet or a vet tech, so I'll be speaking from experience.
Its good that your vet has your little girl on medication, but if you are
truly dealing with IBD, there is probably an underlying cause.
Reno has IBD, he is now on daily doses of Prednisolone and Pepcid AC.
The only way we could find out for sure what was going on was by an
exploratory surgery where part of the intestine/stomach was biopsied. The results
of
the biopsy came back double fold. He not only had IBD, but Helicobacter.
He was put on a regimen of Biaxin twice daily and Prednisolone twice daily
and 1/2 tab Pepcid (OTC) twice daily.
He is now only on the Pred and Pepcid. The funky stools continue, just not a
often and he no longer vomits after eating.
Our Reno went from 2 1/2 pounds to less than a 1 1/2 pounds when it got
really bad and almost took him from us.
Now he is a whooping 3 to 3 1/2 pounds, he is healthy and happy again and
plays like there is no tomorrow, and when your dealing with unknown illnesses, it
could very well be.
