just as in most vet programs nutrition is covered in relation to overt health
effects. Yes, I am definitely sure he looked in nutrition on his own time,
but so have many of the vets, so I am leery of discounting their opinions on
this regard simply because they (as well as he) did not study the topic as a
formal part of their educations.

**Just FYI - my veterinary program, some years ago, had an in-depth section
on nutrition, and I suspect that has only grown as the impact of nutrition on
health has become more recognized.

Baby food is not a complete diet. It is, however, a bland diet and an easily
accepted by most ferrets diet. I have had personal ferrets live for almost
three years on baby food alone, as they refused to eat anything else. They
showed no ill effects from it.

I do not recommend it as a forever diet - but no ferret owner should be
afraid to use baby food to get a ferret through an illness or post-op recovery. I
routinely tell my clients with insulinoma ferrets to give the pred with baby
food.

And I agree with the earlier post that the ferret referenced in this series
of posts most likely has insulinoma, based on clinical signs and what I
consider to be a low blood glucose.**
