Hi Debbie,

Yes cats are obligate carnivors as well HOWEVER there
digestive system is greatly different.

Cats have a secum in there digestive system which is
somewhat like a second stomach. That being the case
the digestion time is different 8 hrs v 2/5 hrs and
felines are thus able to absorb some of the plant
proteins in kibbled diets where ferrets cannot.
However recent food studies with cats have revealed
the corn in kibble may indeed be a contingent in
feline diabetes, if I recall the report correctly.
