I would normally agree with you however I'm just not totally
convinced that it is insulinoma. I don't know maybe it's because all of
the other ferrets I've ever had who were insulinomic started with the
neurological signs.
I keep finding conflicting opinions about insulinomic ferrets and
their appetites. Some sites I've read say the ferret's appetite will
decrease while others have said there is no change in appetite. They do
all agree that there will most likely be some decrease in the ferret's
weight.
Right now as I'm writing this he is eating on his own again. Would
there be such a significant change so soon?
I do realize there are different degrees of nausea. However he isn't
showing any of the classical signs that would make me believe that it is
in fact nausea. If he does stop eating again, I will try treating him
for nausea.
Does diarrhea or other stool changes come with insulinoma? For
awhile when all of this first began he had grainy poop. Right now, he
has a slight case of diarrhea. Although I have looked, I just can not
seem to find anything that will tie these changes together or especially
with insulinoma. He has had his feces checked twice and the results are
always negative.
I currently live in Connecticut. I've never mentioned anything about
anyone in MA. If I did know of someone in MA that would be able to help
I would call them for a consult.
My vet does not know much, if anything at all, about ferrets so she
is just going on the assumption that it is one of the more common ferret
illnesses. As it is, she has never even heard of ADV. There are no other
vets around the area in which I live that will even look at ferrets.
