I agree with Alicia - definitely get to the vet as soon as possible.
It sounds like the middle and/or inner ear are affected, but the good
news is that it doesn't sound like it's nearly as bad as it could be
so far. :) I just went through a very dramatic experience with my
girl Harriet, with a good outcome, and you can read about it here if

Note that your vet might have to sedate your ferret in order to
visualize the ear drum. It's important to know whether or not the ear
drum is intact; if it is ruptured, it changes what medications can go
inside the ear. Many common ear meds can cause hearing damage if they
are used when the ear drum is ruptured.
