Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: generic malaise, severe dehydration--causes unknown. CBC and profile attached
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

The funny thing is he has been eating *constantly* and there was the normal amount
of associated fecal matter, but apparently he wasn't *drinking*. In this house, it is
impossible for the ferrets to dehydrate unless there is some underlying cause that they
can't or won't drink. That's why I didn't catch it right away--his special food that no
one else will touch was always gone so he was always eating. Every so often he has a
day or two when he just doesn't feel like doing anything so I just wrote his inactivity
off as that at first until he started stumbling.

Diet and urination:
It's not that he was having trouble urinating, there were apparently just no liquids to
pass.
There is no plant material in his diet. He is strictly AFS and Wysong 1.

My main concern is what would have driven him to not drink in the first place???

I pass the weblink onto my vet. Thanks!!
MD
