Update.

Well we just finished a 10 day course of Albon and Pred. As I mentioned in the last
email they seem to be doing better as we finished up the Biaxin but there still was
blood. There has not been any frank blood since we started the Albon/Pred. I wont
go so far as to say blood wasn't there though - the frank blood is very easy to see
when the stool is light tan. But once you give them pred the stool darkens (and gets
more dense/sm dia) so it is hard to be sure that the blood that one would have
noticed before is just going undetected.

The oldest girl seems to be totally recovered now. The other two are still having the
large fluffy/mealy stools occasionally as well as diarrhea. and water poops as well.
There is still hope that they are on the way to recovery, but just taking a bit longer.

One of the two girls did have a black tar poo yesterday... just when I thought all
might be well. Vet days don't sweat it unless it happens again. Now we are doing
1/2 doses of pred for the next month.... and crossing fingers.

I am really puzzled about how these guys presented so uniformly (very distinct fluffy
mealy large dia poo initially then adding frank blood after aprox 6 weeks. I have
three ferrets. The sick baby girl plus the two that are now sick. Both of mine got it
within 4-6 weeks, both presented the same as her, and all three have not responded
well to amox/metro, and have had 27 clean stool floats.

As distinct and stable as the presentation is I am surprised that no-one recognizes
it..... well, if they take a turn for the worse cloramphinicol is next.

A couple of things I am wondering about. Could the long course of antibotics (or
the bug) cause there coats to become very coarse? The males is terrible now and
the older girl is pretty bad as well... my little typhoid . Mary's coat is very soft.

Is it possible that she (the new sick girl) had some type of flora/fauna in her tummy
that when the other two got in there tummy's markedly changed the appearance of
there stool?

Is it possable that what ever it is they have has accelerated the onset of AAE
(Adrenal Associated Endocrinopathy)?
