Subject: [ferrethealth] peloid hepatocellular carcinoma

Although it is a few months old I don't recall running into this
abstract for the files of member veterinary professionals and
students before, and it doesn't come up as being in the archives:

J Vet Diagn Invest. 2006 Mar;18(2):228-31.
Peliod hepatocellular carcinoma in a domesticated ferret (Mustela
putorius furo).
Jones Y, Wise A, Maes R, Kiupel M.
Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation, Michigan
State University, East Lansing, USA.
Peliod hepatocellular carcinoma was diagnosed in a domesticated
ferret (Mustela putorius furo). The diagnosis was made using
immunohistochemical analysis, histologic examination, and the
accepted classification schemes based on histomorphologic features.
Bilateral, adrenocortical hyperplasia also was evident. Speculation
about a possible association between the variant of hepatocellular
neoplasia diagnosed in this animal and its adrenal pathologic changes
was done.

There are just so many references these days that it can be hard to
find as many as exist. For example, several years back a friend
found a study of ferrets with cardiomyopathy and neural crest genetic
variations, but I misplaced my copy and have not been able to find
it since, finding only studies in other animals whenever I
periodically search again.
