Not to get into the old time food debates, just in case people didn't know
of some of the newer ferret foods available now:
Innova EVO has a ferret food now, real high in animal proteins, and low in
carbohydrates.
Natural Gold for ferrets, made by pretty bird is also
a nice low carb/high protein ferret food.
When comparing foods you not only want to look at the protein percent but
the source of protein. If the food has a lot of corn/wheat and other
vegetable proteins- it still counts towards the total. The lower these are
listed on the ingredient list the better.
