Is it all the nipples? If only one, I would keep a close eye on it. If it's all of them, I wouldn't be quite so concerned. I have a little retired breeder, a DEW. When I first got her two years ago, her nipples were all very dark; the actual nipples themselves, not the surrounding area. The vet said she was either pregnant (though she had supposedly been spay by the breeder) or adrenal and decided to do surgery. She was, in fact, adrenal. Her nipples are still very dark two years later.
