Subject: [ferrethealth] Clarification on fungal lung infection

I would like to make one clarification to my post yesterday regarding
the fungal lung infections. The vet that did the xray on the ferret
that got sick first said that he thought that this was something that
had been in the lungs a while and was just starting to show outward
signs. I did not mean to give the impression that this statement was
totally false. The fact is, that something COULD have been in the lungs
prior to this fungal infection and the fungal infection (secondary
infection) is now activating the pre-existing problem or is at least
bringing it to my attention via the xray. This is something you rarely
see in ferrets, so it had everyone scratching their heads.

I have the greatest respect for this vet and I did not want to seem like
I was dismissing his diagnosis. Something inside me just KNEW the
carpet played a part in this whole thing. And that was confirmed when
the other two became ill.

If we end up doing a biopsy in a few weeks, I will post the results and
then we'll all know, definitively, what it is. But I hope it doesn't
come to that.
