Subject: [ferrethealth] Adenocarcinoma of the Teat
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

We recently had an enlarged teat biopsied (bottom left) on a 7 year old female ferret. lab results confirmed it was malignant but luckily when the teat was removed all the affected tissue was taken with it.

This female ferret came to us two years ago and was originally purchased through a pet store. It is reasonable to assume she was spayed at an early age. She is in good health otherwise.

My question is this: What are the chances that another teat could be affected?

Just as an aside, she had a mast cell removed at the same time. This was located just above her right collar bone.
