Subject: [ferrethealth] Boosting red cells
To: list <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

I have a little female ferret, about 7 now, who had her huge spleen out
a year and a half ago. She's been sluggish so had her bloodwork done.
PCV is only 18-19%. I've been adding Petinic to her mush for two weeks,
retest today showed no change. She also gets Prednisolone .30 twice a
day, for insulinoma. Vet has never used Epogen for ferrets but does for
cats and dogs. Would that be safe, or could something else be suggested?
What would the dose be?. She weighs only 565 grams.

One other question, - another ferret grew a large lump on top of her
back where Lupron was injected. Same vet never saw this happen before
but it was removed today. Comments, please.

Thanks in advance,

Carol Owens
