Subject: [ferrethealth] Homemade Ferret Lax
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com
Making Homemade Ferret Lax for 1st time. Bought Walgreens' 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly. Active Ingredient is "White Petroleum USP (100%).
Is this the correct product even though it says "Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away."
I mixed 1 tablespoon Petroleum Jelly with 1/4 teaspoon Ferretone. I plan to give same amount of it as from the tube of commercial Lax I gave before: about 1 inch ribbon once per week.
Someone also mentioned adding something called "tinnic" but can't find info about that.
My ferret loves the sugary lax (Marshall, FerretStore) but I want to switch him to something more healthy (just don't want to poison him or cause bowel irritation). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
