Subject: [ferrethealth] liver spleen enlargement is 6-8 yo female
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I have a female ferret 6-8 yo. She appears healthy, has a thicky healthy
winter coat already and I am in Texas. She has been looking thin. So I have
been monitoring her weight and eating habits. Both of which are normal.

However she seems thin around the hind quarters. She has a large mass
hanging down from under the ribcage on the right side and a smaller one on the
left side. She does not appear to be in pain or uncomfortable. She plays like
normal. However she seems to be breathing faster than her bonded partner
another female approximate same age and weight.

A few months ago these masses were NOT this large. You could feel small
mass on right side which I assume is spleen. Last vet visit was normal.

Any ideas? Is surgery the only option? If someone from the Dallas area is
here I also would love any suggestions on a vet in my area that can
ultrasound her belly.
