Subject: [ferrethealth] Lab stumped by Mystery Poop, got any ideas?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

i bleaching and cleanning the quarentine area. that room gets done daily, 6 came in over the weekend, a couple the day or so before. we are well over 100.

have a weird runny poop going on too.

the guy at the lab said i shouldn't have it.

the report reads:

Clostridium difficile toxin A&B Ovem & Parasites/Stool Comprehensive

Source: Stool

Result: Negative for the detection of Clostridium difficile toxin A&B antigen. Test performed by EIA or ELA can't make out the letter microplate assay method.

No ovem or parasites observed

Heavy growth of normal enteric flora
No Salmonella, Shigella, or Camplylobacter isolated.

got any ideas? smell isn't ECE. Not the same. Everyone eats, drinks and plays, they just have the "runs".

It does respond to Sulfamethazine, but as soon as it is out of their system, it is back.

I have been doing fecals on some of these guys two and three times a day. I decided to invest in a biological microscope and supplies, cheaper than running to the vet 40 minutes away and paying for them.

Any ideas? What else should I have them test for?
