Subject: [ferrethealth] anal glands
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I am writing because I have a ferret just turned 5 months, and although his papers say he has been altered and alnal glands were removed, we discovered that he does have the anal glands. Is there ny problem with not having them removed because I do not want to expose him to unnecessary procedures.
Another question I have is that perhaps he has not been altered either. At what age do the testicles appear or how would I know. What I have noticed is that he is bigger, more muscular and more energetic than other ferrets. If he is unaltered, will this be a problem in the future ? He lives with a 5 year old ferret, so could he become aggressive as an adult.
Thanks for any advice.
