Anal gland removal is not needed for the ferrets health and in the UK would be regarded as mutilation (no vet would do it unless there was a medical reason).
It will not reduce the normal ferret odour as this comes from glands in the skin. See the link for a good write-up on ferret odour.

If he is still whole then having him fixed will result in less odour as he matures.
