Subject: [ferrethealth] RE: losing a mate and what to do to make ferret happy?
To: ferrethealth@smartgroups.com

I don't understand losing a ferret to weather changing. Can you be more specific?

When I lost my first ferret, the young jill I had lay down and moped all day. For 3
weeks the younger male (a recent addition) lay on the floor beside her and mourned
with her. On day 22 he nudged, dragged, cajoled her and forced her to play. I have
had ferrets who don't seem to notice when another disappears and one who got
excited because he was one step closer to being the only ferret! All mourn
differently.

Try giving your ferret some extra attention. If the female left one day and didn't
come back, he may be wondering if she is hiding. Do you have something with her
scent on it he can sleep with?

renee :)
It's amazing how much can be accomplished if nobody cares who gets the credit!

unsteady with the situation. What can I do to make him happy while I try to find a
new mate for him. I don't wish to lose him from sorrow.
