Mojave was on Amoxi-drops for about a month. He started to gain his
weight back and his poops were looking normal again. However, a few days
after I stopped the Amoxi-drops he started to lose weight again.
This is where I'm at now. In the past couple of days his poops have
been starting to get loose again and he's lost some more weight. He is
still eating and drinking normally. He is also still straining a little
when he pees.
I did have the vet do a urinalysis and she said she did not find
anything abnormal about it. The pH looked good, there was no calcium or
anything that might be causing a blockage. She does not think he has
adrenal disease because he's not showing any of the "classic" symptoms.
Not to say he isn't asymptomatic.
Another vet whom I consulted with via email also thought Mojave might
have IBD. Right now, I'm monitoring his weight and I am thinking about
treating him for IBD. I'm just not sure if I want to give him Pred
because my opinion is that Pred has more risks than benefits. (I don't
mean to start anything, this is, again, just my opinion. I know the
benefits and risks of Pred but I believe the bad outweighs the good
right now until I'm sure I want to treat it with Pred.)
Since Pro Plan stopped making its Turkey n Barley formula and my
ferrets HATE the science diet food, does anyone know if there is any
food out there for ferrets that is chicken-free?
