Did you have a necropsy performed? This would have given valuble
information. One thing I have seen is a peritonits secondary to a
perforation in the stomach or intestines from a tumor or blockage. THe
contents leak into the abdomen causing pain, fever, and death from sepsis
(overwhelming infection). I have seen ferrets with heliobactor gastriris
develop gastric or intestinal adenocarcinoma do this. Don't know if this
helps but if you had and autopsy done this would have given you the answer
if it was this. There are just too many possibilities and any answer at
this time is all speculation. Best of luck in your search for answers.
