Subject: [ferrethealth] Vets near Marshall, MN
To: "FHL" <ferrethealth@smartgroups.com>

I am writing regarding a friend who lives in Marshall, Minnesota. She has
a vet about an hours drive away who is the best "ferret vet" she could find
but from what she keeps writing, he is not good at all. So I thought I ask
on here. I have looked at lists of ferret friendly vets in the past and so
has my friend but there was no vet listed who is anywhere near her. Right
now my friend has a very sick ferret and yet her vet won't do anything. It
took months before he finally agreed to treat him for adrenal disease (he'd
been bold for a long time and now gets Lupron, the 2mg 4 month depot and his
coat has come back) and now he has severe hind leg weakness which I think
could be due to muscle wasting but the vet says it is arthritis and when my
friend asked to operate on the adrenal gland, he said "its just in a really
bad spot and hard to get at without doing other damage". I don't think he
did any x-rays or ultrasounds or anything to determine possible size or
location of the gland. My friend feels helpless and so do I, I would be
besides me with worry if the best vet I could find was like that.
