I have an 8 year old ferret who had both of her upper canines pulled
several years ago after damaging them from excessive cage chewing.

She hasn't had any problems since the extraction, as they chew kibble
with their back teeth anyway. And aesthetically, it doesn't look bad;
she had small teeth to begin with, so it's hardly noticeable.
